Normality and Molarity in Chemistry

Normality in Chemistry:

Normality of a solution is the number of gm-eqv. of the solute present in 1 litre of the solution. Thus,

Normality = wt. in gms of solute per litre of the solution / eqv. wt. of the solute
or, Normality x eqv. wt. of the solute = wt. in gms of solute per litre of the solution.

Molarity in Chemistry:

Molarity of a solution is the number of moles of the solute present in 1 litre of the solution. Thus,

Molarity = wt. in gms of solute per litre of the solution / Mol. wt. of the solute
or, Molarity x Mol. wt. of the solute = wt. in gms of solute per litre of the solution.
