Laws of Friction:
Friction acting two surfaces in contact follows a few law. The eminent fifteenth-century artist and scientist Leonardo Da Vinci was the first to establish these laws experimentally.
Laws of Static Friction:
1. Force of static friction between two surfaces in contact always acts against the force that attempts to cause relative motion.
2. Force of limiting friction between two surfaces in contact is directly proportional to the normal reaction.
3. When normal force remains constant, the force of friction between the surfaces is independent of the area.
Laws of Kinetic Friction:
1. Force of kinetic friction between two surfaces in contact always acts against their relative motion.
2. Force of kinetic friction between two surfaces in contact is directly proportional to the normal force.
3. When normal force remains constant, the force of friction between the surfaces is independent of the relative velocity of the surfaces.
