Uses of Multimeter

Multimeter:

A multi-meter is a simple, portable instrument which performs the multipurpose measurement of different electrical quantities. It is a compact instrument and requires only a dry cell for operation. The multimeter can measure resistance DC voltage, AC voltage DC and AC current. Besides these, the multimeter can measure inductance, capacitance, and higher resistance with the help of an external source. The multimeter is of two types:

i. Analog Type: The analog multimeter gives continuous scale but the digital multimeter gives discrete numerical. It is normally a digital voltmeter that can be used for resistance, current, and voltage measuring devices.

ii. Digital Type: The digital type multimeter is the most popular which displays numerical and is easy to operate. The digital multimeter gives higher accuracy, decreasing the errors of the operator in comparison to the analytical multimeter.
